Today while watching all the television specials reflecting on the years after September 11, 2001 attacks I started to reflect on how that day changed America. Months and several years following the attacks brought American citizens together and our nation united. Patriotism increased and everyone had flags flying, red, white and blue apparel and the American spirit was stronger than ever. However, in the past 10 years this strong spirit and patriotism has faded as our nation has become divided by a bad economy, a bickering congress and a war. I believe that is sad that our country has to rely on a terrorist attach to bring a nation together. It is sad that our country has resorted back to a weak spirit that is similar to the times before that horrific day. Our country is in a poor state and if our nation's citizens do not come together during this difficult time we will be vulnerable to more attacks. We must remain strong during this bad economy and remember that times will get better.
As we reflect this weekend we do not need to focus on the bad times, we must rather focus on how strong our country once was and not give up on this divided nation. In an effort to bring patriotism back to our country and support our troops display an American flag in your yard, business or vehicle. Remember those who lost their lives for our country and that our nation must continue to preserve their memories. God Bless the United States of America and God Bless our Troops.
